Living Doll: A Background to Shaw's Pygmalion

First produced in London in 1914, Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion is used to explore the elements which contribute to the making of a literary text: the literary and dramatic tradition; the historical and cultural circumstances of its production; and the special circumstances, skills and idiosyncrasies of its author.
