The British Family: Sources and Myths

Arthur Marwick discusses the wide variety of sources available to a historian when studying a subject such as the family. The programme moves from a Roman tombstone, through conduct and common place books, wills and portraits from the sixteenth century, parish registers in the nineteenth century, to a twentieth-century feature film The Family Way.
