Observations on the Creation of Five Works of Art
Genesis shows how a work of art which begins its life in the imagination of an artist takes shape on paper or on canvas, in voices or car parts or on stage in the form of a ballet. The artists whose works of art were observed from the initial stages to completion are the poet Ida Gerhardt, the painter Armando, the choreographer Hans Van Manen, the composer Reinbert de Leeuw, with a piece for sixteen voices by György Ligeti, and the sculptor Carel Visser.
