New Horizons

This film is about architects and artists who have broken new ground, developing original ideas and using new building materials. We meet a sculptor in Texas who has spent his last ten years welding a poetic house of steel; we see underground homes in New Mexico whose designs were inspired by the cave dwellings of the Pueblo Indians; we visit a mysterious cluster of domes in southern California, and the `habitable sculptures' of an architect in Texas which were designed to produce varied psychological feedback from those who live in them - for example, different lights or temperature can be activated automatically in response to prevailing or even to expected weather conditions.
