Famous Artists Design Kites

Working in conjunction with Japanese master kite-makers, a hundred famous artists from twenty countries all over the world created `art kites' to turn the sky above Himeji, Japan, into a playground for their world of paintings. Pictures for the Sky documents one of the most fascinating international art spectacles of recent years, and is unique in its attractive presentation of a wide range of new works by important representatives of contemporary art. Artists featured include Robert Rauschenberg, Emilio Vedova, Niki de Saint Phalle, Panamarenko, Horst Antes, Frank Stella, Daniel Buren, Kumi Sugai, José de Guimarães, Otto Herbert Hajek, Salome, Tom Wesselmann, Antoni Tàpies, Per Kirkeby, Bukichi Inoue, Chema Cobo, Graham Dean, Griska Bruskin, Rupprecht Geiger, Paul Wunderlich, Mimmo Paladino, Karel Appel, General Idea, Olle Kaks, Zvi Goldberg, Imre Bak, Karl Otto Götz, Ulrike Rosenbach, Kenny Scharf, Gregorij Litischevskij, Sadamasa Motonaga, Tadanori Yokoo, Klaus Staeck, Franz Erhard Walther, and Ivan Rabuzin.
