Of Leaves and of EarthTraditional Tribal Architecture of the Cameroon Cameroon is a country where men and women continue to construct their own habitats according to ancestral methods and in perfect harmony with the environment. From the shores of Lake Chad to the great equatorial forest, our guides are the writer André Gide, a pygmy school-teacher, the chief of a mountain tribe, and the sultan of the Kotokos. Architecture, social customs and dance are examined as we retrace a route followed by Gide in 1926, with excerpts from a journal and clips of film made on the trip, which gives us a unique insight. |
