To Be Continued...

1920-1930

This period saw the appearance of the serial comic. Founded by the Chicago Tribune and the New York Daily News, the King Features Syndicate sponsored and distributed, on a nationwide basis, satirical, humorous, family and situational strips, each (frequently nail-biting) episode of which ended with the immortal words `To be continued...' The film includes interviews with Dennis Gifford and Maurice Horn and features Little Orphan Annie, Betty Boop, Gasoline Alley, Felix the Cat and Popeye.
