Vasarely

This film is a rare document from the period when, in both Europe and America, Abstraction in various forms was becoming dominant, and Victor Vasarely was pioneering `Op Art.' The film was made at the time of one of the artist's early exhibitions at the progressive Denise René Gallery in Paris - René herself makes a fleeting appearance in Op Art couture. With a soundtrack of contemporary music, and without narration, the film-maker has sought to create a vibrant composition of rhythms and contrasts in the spirit of Vasarely.
