There are over seven and a half hours of MPEG video clips available from this site.

Extracts from around half of the programmes featured in the Roland Collection are available as MPEG files and are indicated by the icon 'MPEG clip' . The file size is given in MBytes next to this icon. Clicking on either will initiate the down-loading of the file from the Roland Collection site.
These MPEGS contain an embedded audio stream, so to play the clip, you will need the necessary MPEG hardware and/or software for playing the clip. To give some indication of how long it may take to down-load a clip of 10 MBytes in size following approximate figures apply:

14.4 baud modem = 1 hour 35 minutes
28.8 baud modem = 47.5 minutes
ISDN line (64Kbps) = 21 minutes 20 seconds

The average running time of each clip is about 50 seconds.

As the clips contain embedded audio, it is possible that your normal MPEG player will not support it. A large number of the freely available players are not capabale of coping with the audio stream within the clip. If you do not have an MPEG card installed in your computer then you will need to dowload software to play the MPEG video clips.

Software

This is an non-exhaustive guide to available software which can play these clips. If you know of a player which works and is not on the list then please tell us and we will add it to the list.

PC Windows

One player that we have tried is Net Toob. Alternatively, VMPEG 1.7 also works well on PCs and this and a number of other MPEG players for other platforms are available from the MPEG Organisation

Macintosh

The MPEG extension for Quicktime available from http://quicktime.apple.com/sw/qtmac.html plays the clips fine. This is the only Mac MPEG player we have found that works. (so please tell us if you know of others).
