Help on the Section and Program Pages

Sections 1 - 37, which are accessed from the Art Historical Chronological and Art Subject Contents pages, each have an Introduction page containing information about the period of art or subject covered by that section. The total number of programs available in each section is shown on the left hand side of the page, followed by links for each title. Icons, as described below, appear at the top and bottom of every page.

Each title in the Roland Collection has a page containing information about the content of the program, which is described in the main text, and other details such as prices and credits at the left hand side of the page. The Credits list directors, scriptwriters, narrators and presenters, composers of oringinal music as applicable to each program and the program plus information on running time, recommended audience age range, prices and order number.

Prices are given for both institutional use and for individual use for which a full explanation is available via the Additional Information page. Prices are always shown in US dollars, but if preferred, can be paid in £ Sterling or Australian Dollars (also shown in the Additional Information page). Prices will be shown for 16mm film when this medium is also available.

This Web site uses a 'shopping basket' approach for ordering programs. This enables you to complete your order form details (e.g. name, address, contact numbers etc.) once and then add as many programs as you require to your order before sending it to the Roland Collection, allowing you to browse through the resource guide at your leisure. An edit facility is provided, should you change your mind about a program.

The ordering facility works as follows:
Prior to ordering your first program, every program page will display the link 'Order this program' towards the bottom of the page. Clicking on this link will automatically add the program to your shopping basket and display an order form. This form will show options for currency, type of use and the default media format. Use the check buttons to change the defaults for these options, if necessary, as these will options will be assumed for all subsequent programs ordered. You are also required to complete the 'Order Address Details' (name, address, etc.). Once completed, you can click on the 'Confirm Details' button and continue browsing or send in your order via the 'Place Order' button.

Once the first program has been added to your shopping basket, an additional link appears, 'View shopping basket'. Clicking on this link allows you to view the Current Order Status form as described below. To add new programs to your shopping basket, use the 'Order this program' option. All new programs are automatically added without a form being displayed.

'Place Order' and 'View shopping basket' will display a second form entitled Current Order Status which summarises your order and shows the total amount that you will be required to pay. If you wish to make a change to your order, e.g. the language or media format for a program, then click on the 'Edit Order' button. If you wish to make a correction to your billing address or specify a shipping address which is different to the billing address, click on the 'Edit Address' button. If you are satisfied with the information shown and wish to send your order, then click on 'Place Order' - this will result in the display of a confirmation form which you are advised to make a copy of for your own records.

Clicking on the 'Edit Order' button will display the programs currently in your shopping basket. There are options for changing the media format and the language (if available in addition to English). Programs can be removed from the shopping basket by clicking on the check button next to each title. Changes are confirmed by clicking on the 'Make Changes' button and you are returned to the Current Order Status form.

Clicking on the 'Edit Address' button displays the Order Address Details form which allows you to enter your own Purchase Number, to make changes to previously entered billing address details, and to specify a different address for delivery of your order. Again, changes are confirmed by clicking on the 'Make Changes' button.

See Options and Services for further details on format options, additional products and pricing information.

A link for the viewing availability appears at the end of the program information. This is usually worldwide but some programs do have restricted availability which are always fully detailed here.

Some of the program pages will show an image taken from the program after the description, but images are not available on every program page.

In addition, other links may also be present as follows:

Part of the series Art in the Making (for example) - if a program is part of a series, the other programs in this series may be viewed via the Series Introduction page to which this link goes.

Biographical details or Further details will display a page containing further information about the artist or subject covered by the program.

Other links to closely related programs may also be present in the descriptive text.

A number of Icons will appear at the top and bottom of each page in the resource guide to enable you to find your way round more easily as follows:
