Resource Guide Contents

The Introduction to the Roland Resource Guide presents a number of pages containing information about the collection and its founder Anthony Roland. There are also acknowledgments and some pages on the making of the Roland Collection which list the producers of the films and videos and include some details of exhibitions and events where the collection has featured.

How to use the on-line Roland Resource Guide contains detailed information on how the resource is structured and how the contents may be accessed, with specific instructions for using the indexes and search facility. Ordering programs is explained, and a 'route map' graphic has been provided as a visual aid for the user.

The Art Historical Chronological Contents lists the first 23 sections of the guide where these sections are ordered chronologically according the period of art covered. Each section title links to an introduction page which lists the programs in that section. Each of the program titles links to an individual page containing a detailed description about the film/video, production details such as the running time, recommended age range, director, narrator, other optional languages the program is available in and also prices and availability.

The Art Subject Contents lists the sections 24 - 37 of the guide where these sections are ordered by art subject. As for the first 23 sections, each title links to an introduction page which lists the programs in that section. Each of the program titles links to an individual page containing a detailed description about the film/video, production details such as the running time, recommended age range, director, narrator, other optional languages the program is available in and also prices and availability.

A number of the programs featured in the Roland Collection are also available as series, and the Art and Architecture Series Content page lists the series titles. Each series title links to a series introduction page which contains a list of the programs available in the series. Each program title links to a page containing a description and other information about the program.

The Modern Literature Series Content page lists the series titles available on modern literature and philosophy. Each series title links to a series introduction page which contains a list of the programs available in the series. Five Indexes are available to assist you find the programs of interest to you. The General Index is a comprehensive alphabetically ordered index containing a wide range of terms. These include program titles, artists names (both by first and last names), art periods, place names, art subjects with extensive sub-indexing by countries, language, art type and dates. Each entry constitutes a link to one or more programs which match the entry. Programs have also been indexed by Awards, Composers, Directors, Narrators, and Scriptwriters.

The Printed Resource Guide is a version of the printed resource guide in Adobe PDF format and requires an Adobe Acrobat viewer for display purposes. A link has been included on the Printed guidepage to enable users to download the Acrobat viewer. This version of the guide is divided into the 37 sections and allows the viewer to sample the printed guide on-line.
