Before it was dramatically curtailed by the blow that fell on Europe in 1914, Art Nouveau spread across the continent and beyond. These films explore the aesthetic and social factors that caused the restless `new style' to be adopted with such vigor from Vienna to Mexico City, from Paris to Cape Town. A rich and varied survey of a rich and varied movement and its leading personalities, including composers like Mahler and Debussy, as well as architects, designers and painters.
