Search for Truth introduces one of the most exciting and complex chapters in the architectural history of Moscow, the transition from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. Buildings such as the Kremlin Palace and the spectacular Yaroslavski railway station are shown and compared with the intricate `fairy house' of the artist Vasnetsov and later, more humble domestic residences in the modern style. In the period covered, Russia experienced its own version of the Art Nouveau style spreading across Europe and America. It was a period of eclecticism, a curious mixture of nostalgic romanticism, adventurous modernism and decadence. Here we see for the first time the interiors of many of Moscow's finest buildings, long closed to the public, in addition to stained-glass windows, paintings and sculptures by artists such as Vroubel, Serov and Antakolsky.
