The Roland Collection site was originally developed by the Publishing & New Media Group at Pira International working in close conjunction with Anthony Roland. The design of the site seeks to maintain a relationship with the printed resource guide whilst maximising on the features offered by electronic publishing such as hyper-linking between related pages. Pira endeavoured to make the site as easy to navigate as possible, and for the browsing and ordering of programmes to be straightforward.

In 1997 five hundred videoclips (7.5 hours) of RealVideo™ were put onto this site and a further 250 hours of complete programs were added during 1998. All video compression is by DMD Digital Media Development GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, who have also converted the site to a static version for CD-ROM distribution. DMD specialize in all kinds of video compression and other multimedia services, and can be contacted at info@dmd-hh.de. MPEG digitization has been carried out by ACE Studio, Northants, UK.
